# What these compounds do—and what they haven’t proved

> Plain answers about four research compounds — Plain answers about Ipamorelin, CJC-1295, NAD+ and MOTS-c: what studies found, what risks remain, and why there’s no use plan.

**YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT THE STUDIES FOUND**

You’ll get plain answers about growth hormone, energy, and exercise. You’ll see what each study can and can’t tell you.

## What did researchers make ipamorelin to do?

A lab makes ipamorelin from 5 building blocks. It attaches to one protein on your growth gland.

Your small growth gland sits beneath your brain. It releases growth hormone when ipamorelin acts there.

Older peptides also raised the stress hormone cortisol, the milk-making hormone prolactin, and another hormone that controls cortisol. Ipamorelin largely avoided those rises [1][4].

No country has approved ipamorelin as a drug. Research-labelled ipamorelin is still sold, but a prescription request needs its own clinical assessment.

You can leave the lab codes behind. You’ll need to remember the growth-hormone rise.

## Did ipamorelin help people recover?

Rat studies found more bone growth [5]. That result doesn’t tell you what happens in people.

The only human benefit trial had 114 people after surgery. Phase 2 failed to shorten the planned recovery time [3].

Some users say they slept better and recovered faster. **Those personal reports aren’t findings from a controlled human trial**.

No one can promise what ipamorelin will do for you. The published human benefit wasn’t clear.

User stories can’t predict your result. A sound trial must show the benefit.

## Does your body make ipamorelin?

No. A lab made ipamorelin from chosen protein building blocks.

Scientists changed pieces called positions 1, 3, and 4. Those changes slow the body’s breakdown of ipamorelin.

The changes also narrow where it attaches to a cell. Your body doesn’t make ipamorelin.

It remains a research chemical [4]. Approval as medicine hasn’t followed.

This isn’t a natural product from your body. It’s a compound designed in a lab.

## Which harms from ipamorelin remain unknown?

Long-term harm in people hasn’t been measured. Human work includes one short trial [3].

It also includes a short vein study of how your body cleared ipamorelin [4]. Neither study tells you about years of use.

A related compound harmed rat heart muscle. Higher amounts caused more harm [2].

Ipamorelin wasn’t the compound tested in those rats. The finding still gives researchers a warning.

Growth hormone can raise growth factor 1, a liver-made signal, and cause water gain. It may also weaken insulin’s effect.

Research material may be impure. Sport rules also ban ipamorelin.

You can’t take missing harm data as proof of safety. You’ll need your doctor to check your own risks.

## Why does one CJC-1295 form last longer?

CJC-1295 starts with 29 building blocks from a human hormone. Scientists changed four parts to slow its breakdown.

The long form adds a chemical part that attaches to a blood protein. The added part keeps the effect going for days.

The short form omits that added part. It wears off sooner.

Neither form is approved as a drug [9]. Research labels describe the lab-sale route; they do not decide a person’s prescription access.

You can’t expect the same timing from both forms. You’ll need to tie each claim to the exact form.

## What did CJC-1295 change in people’s blood?

CJC-1295 makes your growth gland release hormones. Studies then tracked a lasting rise in blood.

Shots under the skin raised growth hormone 2- to 10-fold. Higher levels remained for 6 or more days.

Growth factor 1, a liver-made signal, also rose and stayed high for days [9][10]. That’s a blood change, not a health gain.

Natural growth-hormone bursts still came and went. No lasting health benefit from growth factor 1 has been proved.

You can’t call a hormone rise better health. You’ll need a study that tests how people feel.

## Has CJC-1295 had a long safety test?

Short studies of how your body handled the compound found no serious new health problems [9][10]. Their small size couldn’t settle safety.

Drug testing stopped before Phase 3, the large confirming test. In 2024, federal advisers warned that the immune system may attack the compound [6].

Keeping growth factor 1, a liver-made signal, high also raises a cancer concern. Human studies haven’t settled that risk.

The compound isn’t approved. Its long-term safety in people remains unknown.

You don’t have a long safety test for this choice. You’ll need your caution to match that gap.

## Why is there no CJC-1295 amount for you?

CJC-1295 has no approved amount or approved use. A research chemical doesn’t come with a safe plan for you.

Human studies used shots under the skin. Those study plans weren’t self-use advice [9][10].

Safety for self-use hasn’t been set. A licensed clinician decides whether to prescribe; a study amount does not set a person’s care.

Nothing here replaces a doctor’s care. Your own health needs your own doctor.

Don’t build a plan from a study amount. Care for you must account for your health.

## What did NAD+ building forms change in people?

Your cells use NAD+ for energy and DNA repair. Levels can fall as you age [14][16].

Researchers tested two forms that your body can turn into NAD+. Pills often contain one of those building forms.

One form raised blood NAD+ and walking distance [12]. A separate trial found that muscles used insulin better [13].

Those gains came from certain groups. They don’t prove that NAD+ treats everyone.

A better blood test isn’t a cure. Keep the claim as narrow as the study.

## What can go wrong with pills or drips of NAD+?

Your gut may take in plain NAD+ pills poorly. Two building forms enter the body another way.

NAD+ drips can cause chest tightness, cramps, flushing, or nausea. Faster drips seem worse.

A pharmacy-made NAD+ shot received the most serious kind of federal recall. Dangerous material from bacteria had tainted it.

NAD+ also feeds growing cells, including cancer cells. That raises an unproved concern about tumors.

Federal officials dispute whether one building form may be sold as a supplement [11]. The rules may keep changing.

Short trials can’t tell you your tumor risk. Your medical history needs to be weighed in person.

## How long did daily NAD+ studies last?

Short studies found that two NAD+ building forms caused few problems. They don’t answer lifelong use.

One study lasted 8 weeks. It found no more harm than a look-alike pill called a placebo [15].

Another study lasted 60 days. Amounts up to 900 milligrams a day had no reported safety issue [12].

Safety over years hasn’t been measured. Your doctor can weigh your health and medicines.

You don’t have years of proof for daily use. You’ll need your doctor to check it against your medicines.

## Did NAD+ building forms change body weight?

The studies here didn’t link NAD+ building forms with weight gain. That isn’t proof of no risk.

One insulin study found no change in body fat or muscle [13]. Another study found no change in LDL cholesterol.

The second study also found no change in a basic cell process [15]. Animal work often points another way.

Some cell proteins help the body use fuel [14]. Human weight loss still hasn’t been proved.

No found weight gain isn’t a guarantee for you. The question remains open.

## How did MOTS-c change mice and cells?

In cells, MOTS-c slows one step used to make fuel. The change tells your cell that fuel is low [22].

That can help your muscle take in sugar. Under strain, MOTS-c also enters the nucleus, where most of your DNA sits.

MOTS-c then starts cell defenses. It changes which genes, or DNA instructions, your cell uses.

In old mice, running, grip, and walking improved [21]. A 2024 study found that MOTS-c attached to a protein called casein kinase 2 [18].

Blood MOTS-c tracked heart trouble and death in people whose failed kidneys required machine-cleaned blood [19]. That wasn’t a treatment trial.

You can’t claim mouse movement gains for your body. You’ll need to keep the result tied to the animals.

## Which MOTS-c side effects are known in people?

No controlled human treatment trial has been published [20]. That means there’s no sound safety record in people.

Research material may be impure. A label can’t prove what’s in it.

One inherited DNA change was linked with diabetes risk. Exercise results also differed by family background [20].

Mouse studies used very different amounts. Those amounts can’t be carried over to people.

No human trial can’t mean safety for you. The missing test calls for more caution.

## Do sale and sport rules allow MOTS-c use?

Laws differ by country. Some places allow research sellers to offer MOTS-c for lab work.

That doesn’t make MOTS-c an approved medicine. Rules for personal use can also differ.

Sport rules are clear. World and US sport bodies ban MOTS-c at all times.

They group it with compounds that change hormones or fuel use. Tested athletes may be barred from sport [20].

A local sale rule isn’t health approval. Keep sport rules separate from medical care.

## Why is there no MOTS-c shot schedule for people?

No human trial has found a safe schedule. Any schedule would be a guess.

Mouse studies used shots under the skin. Those animal plans can’t be moved straight to people [21].

No human study has tracked how the body clears MOTS-c or found an amount. That leaves no sound plan for a person.

This isn’t medical advice. Take your health question to your own doctor.

Don’t build a shot plan from mouse work. Human trials must come first.
